Whoopie Pies From Black Cat Cookie Company Will Make You Say Yum!

When it comes to chocolate goodies, I tend to be very partial to anything and everything chocolate. If it's made with cocoa you can bet I'll attack it.  Whoopie pies are a treat that I absolutely love, but don't get to enjoy too often.  When I do have the opportunity to have one, it's like reconnecting with a long lost love.  It's hard to resist that fabulous cake-y texture filled with sweet and rich buttercream.  I wish I could have one everyday.  If you've never tried a whoopie pie, you need to do it today.

Sonia was kind enough to send me six beautiful chocolate whoopie pies.  These round yummies needed to be taste-tested immediately, it's my civic duty to do so.  I have to say that in my opinion, whoopie pies are best left in their classic chocolate flavor.  I've seen them in many different flavors which is nice to have variety, but there's something so comforting about a standard whoopie pie.  

The whoopie pies arrived in a special rectangular box that had a window so you could see in.  I thought that was a really interesting concept, especially for gift-giving.  Of course I looked at those tasty whoopies and thought they were too beautiful to eat, but don't worry that thought instantly went away.  

I poured myself a glass of milk and declared that it was time to dig in.  Whoopie pies look similar to a  sandwich cookie, but each round layer is made from cake.  In between the cake layers is a generous amount of thick buttercream icing.  Upon first bite, I was transported to planet sugar and I didn't want to go back to Earth.  The dense and thick cake paired with the sweet icing was everything you could want out of a sweet treat.  I noticed that the chocolate flavor was very prominent and that was welcomed by me.   This whoopie pie satisfied my sweet tooth and was a wonderful mid-day treat.

This pie was extremely fresh and tasted like I bought it moments earlier from a bakery.  I dipped a section of the treat into my milk which was a genius idea, in my opinion.  Do that next time you have a whoopie pie, you'll enjoy it.

Since there's six pies in an order, it's a perfect way to share with your friends or loved ones. I've put the rest of mine in the freezer for now so I can enjoy a sweet treat whenever the mood strikes me.  If you choose to do this, just zap it in the microwave for a few seconds to revive it.
