Animals are something I care immensely about. I will not tolerate any cruelty to animals whatsoever. I also wish I could adopt and rescue every pet in the world, but unfortunately I can't (and my landlord wouldn't let me either, haha.) I feel very strongly in taking a stand to make sure that animals from shelters are placed in good homes and taken care of to the fullest.
National Pet Week (May 1-7) is underway! And in celebration, The Hartz Mountain Corporation is releasing its first-ever Hartz Pet Trend Report. Hartz polled pet parents to better understand what they think about pet topics and gain insight into their relationships with their pets -- and found that pet parents had a lot to say. The first report revealed that pet parents are four times as likely to say they’ll rescue a pet before going to a breeder or pet store. Here’s more..
Pet owners favor rescue societies. More than half of pet owners (60 percent) surveyed say they’d prefer to get their next pet from a rescue society. A majority of pet owners agree that pet stores are “out of favor,” with a mere four percent saying that’s where they prefer to go to find their next pet.
Personality, not pedigree, matters most. Two-thirds of pet owners (65 percent) surveyed say “personality” is the most important characteristic of a pet. And almost all pet owners (98 percent) say they look beyond pedigree or physical appearance.
A pet’s life is a life worth saving. What is the role of pets in American life? Nearly half of pet owners (47 percent) surveyed say their pet is like a child to them. And two out of five (42 percent) say they would compare their pet to a good friend.
With 8-10 million cats and dogs entering shelters each year, there is a great need for pet adoption. To help bring much needed resources to these animals, Hartz will be donating products to 45 animal shelters nationwide in honor of National Pet Week.
To celebrate National Pet Week, Hartz wants to offer an awesome gift basket of products that your pet will go crazy for!
The basket includes:
Home Protection Training Pads, Crunch ‘n Clean Biscuits, DuraPlay Bone, Nodor Litter Spray, Crunch ‘n Clean Cat Treats, and Midnight Crazies.

I have many pets, all of whom are my babies. Fortunately, I have a big house and 12 acres so there's room for my many rescues. Three of my four dogs were rescues...one from the humane society, one from an abusive home and one stray who despite my best efforts to find his family, ended up staying with me. As for my kitties, two of them came from rescue organizations and the third came out of a dumpster at a local community center. Needless to say, I know my babies would just love it, if I won the prize pack. :-) Thank you so much for the great contest and we'll be crossing our fingers and paws.

I have three dogs and a guinea pig. Get ready for a Leah ramble because I am crazy passionate about animals. The guinea pig came from the store and the lab came from a breeder type person (before we knew any better). The pit bull is a dog my sister rescued in school for the Navy in FL and I brought home with me in LA. And the rat terrier came from people who were going to send him to a shelter. My 15 year old daughter got him out of a drainage ditch. I never liked animals much til we got our lab 8 years ago and now I have decided to devote my life to them. In the past week, I have rescued three turtles out of the highway and a teeny kitten that was walking alone up a road heading to the highway. It doesn't even have boy/girl parts yet. That's how small it is. Luckily a lady I work with took it. And I just moved the turtles out of the road so they didn't get run over. I wish this giveaway had 100 entries for me to be able to do. My boys love getting mail so I love entering to try and win them things. Really. They stand there while I open mail. And you can't bring in a sack of any kind unless there is something in there for them or they get their little feelings hurt. In two years when my daughter graduates high school hubby and I are going to move even farther into the country with tons of room for animals to play. I am going to get an old truck and drive around and rescue animals who would be killed or taken to a shelter otherwise. It kills me that I can't do it now but our house is tiny. My sister, who is in the Navy now, has already told me she wants to help me. I will either find them good homes or keep them to live and play with me and my family. I can't wait. I truly feel this is what I was meant to do.
ReplyDeleteDid I answer the question? Lol. Yes, I think I did. Sorry to ramble. I'm just really excited.
