If you're like me, you're adventurous with food but are tired of the same level of personality in your food. You want to kick your food up a notch but don't know how to without using the same spices that you're used to. Well I have the perfect answer for you.
Salt Traders began with a fascination for specialty salts. Founders Rob Seideman and Kelly Hall owned the Cooking School of Aspen, which they opened in 1998. Their interest and education in the subject of specialty salts grew and they began offering a variety of salts and peppercorns at their school. Eventually, they focused all their energy on Salt Traders, educating chefs and the public on the benefits and vast array of sea salts available around the world. Rob and Kelly were central to the emergence of sea salt as a popular condiment and introduced it to home and restaurant kitchens across the country.
This company offers very unique blends of various salts, peppers, and sugars. They also provide speciality foods, gifts, and salt cellars too. Anything from this company would make a fabulous gift for any foodie.
I was sent a Didi Davis Salt Blend Collection:
Can't decide which salt blend flavor to try? No worries. Our didi davis food Salt Blend Collection allows you to experiment with and enjoy each flavor before committing to larger quantities. Additionally, the set is a perfect gift for any occasion!
Each set contains 10 g each of the following artisanal salt blends: Fennel Thyme Salt, Porcini Salt, Sagemary Salt, Caraway Salt, Vanilla Salt, Sumac Pepper Salt, Aleppo Chile Salt, and Smoked Paprika Salt. Each blend is crafted by hand and made with a moist, crunchy sea salt.
Use as a finishing salt. Our didi davis food Salt Blend Collection adds flare and crunch to fresh and cooked dishes. Use also mixed with oil as a rub, or sprinkle into soups, stews, and braises while cooking.
A convenient, sophisticated way to enhance any dish. Simply cook, sprinkle, enjoy! (taken from website.)
This salt blend collection is fabulous! I love the different colors that differentiate each salt. Before receiving this to review, I had no idea that spices could conform into salt! I thought all salt was just...well plain table salt. Well I was so wrong! Each blend of salt is very unique and has its own distinct personality. I will not be using any of the chile blends because I don't enjoy spicy foods.
I added a tiny bit of vanilla salt to some roasted asparagus before roasting it, and it gave it a lot of flavor. You wouldn't think vanilla would go with asparagus, but it really gave it a nice flavor. I think sagemary and fennel thyme would go excellently if rubbed into chicken before cooking. I bet it would smell amazing too.
One thing that I really like is that each blend is very small. It gives you a small sample to try to see if you like it, rather than buying a large jar of it and finding out that you don't like it. Also something else that's really convenient is the fact that the entire canister is stacked on top of each other, so all of the blends stay together and you don't lose any.
I can't wait to further explore new recipe options with these artisinal salt blends. I bet I stumble onto something excellent and delicious :)

I need these because I am always using the same seasonings because I know we like them. It's hard to justify buying new blends if we aren't sure... then it sits there missing only a dash. :(

ReplyDeleteMy husband and I both love to cook. We don't need things spiced up, since we are not afraid of seasonings and spices. What we need is a chance to spice differently!!! My husband uses the same combos a lot and some of it doesn't work. But shhh.... don't tell him I said that! I may end up being the only one cooking in the kitchen, and we can't have that!

Foods need seasoning because it is often the case that the foods we love are actually the seasonings we love. It's not hamburger meat and tomato sauce that makes spaghetti delicious--it's oregano, garlic, salt, pepper, etc.

Since I've been on a diet I've really had to watch what I add to food (like cream, butter, etc.) plus I'm eating a lot more grilled food. These would allow me to change up the flavors and punch up my food without adding fat and calories.
ReplyDeleteOh, I've been looking at different salts lately because now that the kids are out of the house we are more able to experiment with our food. Hubby does most of the cooking (lucky me) and would love to whip up some dishes with some different salts. We are tired of the same old same old.

i think my food could use some different "spicing up". we went vegan about 6 months ago and i'm still trying to get the hang of cooking with plant proteins, only. I'm sure it's a matter of different spices than i'm used to using. thanks for this great giveaway!

ReplyDeleteI'm not a big seasoner. My daughter is a little but hubby is big time. I add a little to our food and then they put what they want when it's ready on their own servings. Hubby adds at least three kinds of seasoning to his food. His fave, I mean he loves it, is salt. I would love, love to win this for him. He would be thrilled to have something different to try. Thank you so much for this chance. I love winning things for him.
