Foodzie Review and Giveaway

When I think of dessert, I don't think of apple pie or blueberry tarts, I think of chocolate! Beautiful, rich and delicious, chocolate! I'll take chocolate in the form of a brownie, a slice of cake, or even creamy pudding. I don't discriminate against it. :) I also love to try new chocolate foods too.

Foodzie is an online marketplace for specialty, gourmet food. You can purchase delicious baked goods, jams, jellies, coffee and more.

I was sent a delicious box of dark chocolate alfajores. I've never had anything like these before and couldn't wait to try one. Yes, I did try a very small bite myself, but I'm sorry I HAD to :) The alfajores come in the flavors of white chocolate, dark chocolate, and meringue. These delicious chocolates are delicate, melt in your mouth confection, composed of two thin buttery sablé (shortbread like) cookies with a smooth and rich dulce de leche interior. This dark chocolate alfajor is enrobed in a thin, perfectly tempered, shell of real bittersweet couverture chocolate. In other words, I think these alfajores are a small bite of heaven! :)

When I opened them up I saw very nicely wrapped alfajores that didn't stay wrapped for long! :)


The alfajores were delicious. I had a small bite like I said because I am on a diet, but they looked so good I couldn't resist. When you first look at them, they have the same shape as a chocolate covered oreo, but are much much bigger. Tons of chocolate and sweet dulce de leche flavor are packed into this little gem. The chocolate smells sweet and very fresh. When you bite inside, you have a rush of chocolate flavor that hits you instantly, followed by a flaky buttery shortbread cookie that provides a great fabulous crunch. Then you see this:

Doesn't that just look like something out of this world!? It looks like it would be crunchy inside but it's not. That's a very generous layer of dulce de leche that is sweet and just perfect. These alfajores as a whole are amazing. The ingredients are fresh and they are made with dedication. If you try these, I guarantee you will absolutely love them.
