Who here is guilty of using paper plates on a regular basis? You use them once and then throw them away. Do you know how many pounds of paper plate trash the average American throws away every week? A LOT. I'm not extremely environmentally cautious, but I try to do my part when I can.
Verterra is a company which makes plates from fallen leaves. Yes, you heard me right, actual fallen leaves from trees. How cool is this?!
How are the plates made you ask?(taken from website)
Our production process is simple and transparent: After collecting fallen leaves that would normally be burned, we apply steam, heat, and pressure to transform the leaves into durable products that will naturally compost in 2 months. You'll never feel guilty about throwing away these plates!
Verterra offers both bowls and plates for sale. The plates come in a small and large size. The plates are microwavable and even oven safe! You certainly cannot put paper plates in the oven. Did you ever think you would be eating on leaves? I bet not!
These plates are very smooth, and feel a lot like bamboo. I like that they are a modern square shape too. They have an earthy smell to them too. I served dinner on these plates and the plates held the food with no problem! They are tough and built to hold weight. I think these are a very cool alternative to regular paper plates.

I would love to win because I think these are an amazing idea. I would have never though fallen leaves could be used in this way. It just goes to show that the world is becoming a more beautiful place because companies like this are helping cut down on waste.

Well the first thing I noticed is that they look very unique and since they are environmentally friendly I like that too, besides its not adding to the landfills with more of all that plastic or paper plates that is wasted instead of something like this, besides I like the style and shape of them too, Thanks for the great giveaway

I would like to try these. I don't use paper plates out of guilt, but I hate, loathe and despise washing dishes.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of these paper plates being square, and earthy smelling, yet very sturdy. If they are bamboo, that is even more of a plus for me! I have different dishes for different occasions, and these unique plates would definitely fit in with what everyone expects from me....something different and unique!
